Abu Qatada reported on the authority of his father that Allaah's Prophet (sallAllaahu alayhi wa sallam) forbade breathing in a vessel.

Anas reported that Allaah's Messenger (sallAllaahu alayhi wa sallam) used to breathe three times in the course of a drink (i. e. he drank in three gulps).

Anas reported that Allaah's Messenger (sallAllaahu alayhi wa sallam) breathed three times (outside the vessel) in the course of a drink and said: It is more thirst- quenching, healthier and more wholesome. Anas said: So I also breathe three times in the course of a drink.
